Edward Gants Amazing Feats of Loneliness

by Anthony Neilson

In 1881, the famed and enigmatic impresario Mr. Edward Gant presented his renowned traveling show for the final time: a spectacle of grotesquery, tastelessness, black comedy, mystery and magic realism presided over by an opiate-addicted actor.
Neilson's play offers a strange and beautiful exploration of sadness and mortality, probing the nature of theatre and spectacle.

A marvelously bizarre series of sketches inspired by Victorian traveling shows, Edward Gant’s Amazing Feats of Loneliness is a curious miscellany of tricks, jokes and melancholy.

'Truly exceptional comedy that combined a stellar cast with clever and astute direction'

'music, originality and a wonderful twist. what more could i ask for?'

outcast studios

'CellarDoor, and Boocock, have consistently demonstrated their undeniable talent and, more importantly, their refusal to play it safe. They push artistic boundaries without being contrived or offensive and have gained a dedicated fan in me as a result.'

epigram arts

'Cellar Door Theatre company are a triumph. They can tell stories, bewitch an audience and leave you crying, either in sadness or in laughter.'

'thoroughly entertaining and very memorable. a pleasure to watch'

'the production expertly balanced the macabre and the humor, and yet still allowed for the emotional core of the story to shine'
