CellarDoor Theatre is a company run by Theatre Makers Teja Boocock, Akshay Khanna and Hiranya Griffith-Unny - along with our board of associate artists! A band of keen theatre devotees and enthusiasts, the CDT team have individually strived to create lively and entertaining theatre, and, having banded our creative minds together, we hope to create even better shows on a larger scale than anything we’ve done before.

Hiranya Griffith-Unny

Hiranya Griffith-Unny is the most boring and least edgy person we have had the misfortune of drearily sitting through a production meeting with, if we even manage to register that she’s in the room in the first place, the tedious sod. Describing Hiranya as milquetoast is singularly apt, since milk and toast are the only forms of nourishment she partakes of.  Indeed, the only thing remotely remarkable about Hiranya Griffith-Unny is her name, and it’s not like she chose it herself.  No, that would have been interesting. Wait... why do we let her design our shows again?

Akshay Khanna

Akshay Khanna spends most of his time (as his father so eloquently puts it) ‘twatting about on stage’ rather than living in the real world. Having recently been accepted at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he is provided the prospect of theatre being a legitimate career, which is exciting for him and mildly terrifying for his family and friends. He could have been a doctor, or a lawyer, or an engineer, or a CEO, if he wasn’t so blatantly terrified of success or achieving the living wage.

Isaac “The Law” Lawrence-Thompson is CellarDoor’s own self-titled ‘General Soundissimo’. Outcompeting the very best of his father’s particularly virile sperm in the race to the egg, Isaac has since dominated the University of Bristol student theatre sound design scene, which isn’t nearly as impressive as it sounds. A musical talent from a young age, Isaac’s profound ability to pitch a perfect B-flat and generally be punctual to things means he’s an integral part of the team. He will hopefully be putting those talents to good use at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he is studying the Advanced Theatre-Making MA.

Teja Boocock

Teja Boocock is a meticulous young director. Her passion came early on in life, when she was tasked with directing her primary school production and put on Sarah Kane’s ‘Crave’ to an audience of bewildered parents. Critics called it ‘no comment’ and ‘what the f*ck?’, and it received a three-star review from Epigram. Since then, she has directed countless shows, including an international tour of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at the age of 18 (a fact she is loath to let anyone forget).

fUND US

As you can see from our portfolio, if we are one thing - it is ambitious. And, much to our eternal regret, ambition costs - and so we reach out to the public to help us make the shows we have floating around in our heads a reality.

Whether you believe in the people behind this project, really want to see the show itself, or have a vested interest in backing something wondeful - then don’t hesitate to contribute!

The majority of donations from this platform will go towards renting the venue for the performance dates, which is a fairly large portion of the budget.  The rest will be raised independently.

Any and all contributions are most graciously accepted (though larger contributions will be accepted with EVEN MORE grace than that) and we are extremely grateful for any support we receive.
